Passed-Out Mom Found With Open Beer Can After Sons Ran Into Street: NJ Police

A 20-year-old New Jersey mom faces child endangerment charges after her young sons ran into the street looking for help when she passed out, police say.

Hackettstown police responded to a report of two boys, ages 2 and 5, wandering the road near the 700 block of Washington Street around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday in New Jersey, Hackettstown police said. The person who called police told officers the children said they couldn't wake up their mother.

When officers arrived at the house they found 20-year-old Jamie Stollenmaier passed out on her bed. Stollenmaier was holding an open 16-ounce can of Budweiser beer and officers could smell alcohol "emanating" from the mom, according to police.

She was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and was taken to the Warren County Correctional Facility.

The Division of Child Protection and Permanency took custody of her sons, authorities said.
