Mario Cuomo Bridge Reopens After Hours-Long Accident Closure

The truck flipped and caused a mid-span fuel spill that shut down the area for hours

An overturned truck closed part of the Gov. Mario Cuomo Bridge for hours Friday.

The bridge was closed heading to Westchester County after the truck flipped around 5 a.m., causing a fuel spill mid-span. Delays went back as far as exit 11 in Nyack.

The accident was cleared after nearly five hours, authorities said. Residual delays were expected.
