Miss “Outstanding Teen” Disciplined After House Party

The reign of Miss Connecticut Outstanding Teen is on hold because of an underage drinking incident at her Wolcott home.

The state board of directors of the pageant has voted to suspend all of Rachael Ramonas' activities. She also is prohibited from wearing her sash and crown in public or appearing at pageant functions.

The action follows a party at the 17-year-old girl's home last month that resulted in two dozen people being charged with underage drinking.

The Miss Connecticut Scholarship Corp. said the news has created enormous amounts of negative media reports.

The Miss Outstanding Teen contest promotes academic and creative achievements. Ramonas received a $2,000 scholarship.

As part of her yearlong reign, Ramonas agreed to work with the Connecticut chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
