Officers on Long Island rescued a “terrified” dog after the pooch was left out in the freezing cold, police said.

A caller reported a dog in distress at an abandoned house on Warren Street in Uniondale around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, Nassau County police said.

When officers got to the house, they found the “terrified” dog tied to the porch and hiding under a bush, according to police. It wasn't immediately clear who tied the dog there.

The officers carried the dog to their car, gave her warm water to drink and brought her to McDonald's, police said.

"After eating a few hamburgers, the dog started feeling better and her tail even began to wag," the department said.

The dog was taken to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, where staff named her Warren.

Anyone interested in adopting the dog can contact the shelter, police said.
