Officer Suffers Medical Emergency, Crashes NYPD Cruiser Into Building

An NYPD officer had a medical emergency Monday night and crashed a police cruiser into a building, according to police.

Police said it appears that the officer had high blood pressure and passed out, causing the vehicle to careen into Flowers by Ricky on Bay Street in the Clifton neighborhood.

Witness Paul Justiniano described seeing the officer crash into the building.

"The airbags came out and everything so he was all dazed out," he said.

A gaping hole was left in the business and the front of the cruiser was destroyed.

The officer was taken to Richmond University Hospital, where he was treated for his high blood pressure.

Neither the officer nor anyone else was injured in the crash.
