An officer on patrol in Brooklyn shot and wounded a man who was running while carrying a gun, police said Saturday.
Authorities are investigating whether the man is responsible for shooting another person in the thigh nearby, police said.
According to the NYPD, patrol officers heard shots fired Friday at around 8 p.m. near Park Avenue and Cumberland Walk in Fort Greene. As they headed toward the sounds, they saw the man running with a gun and jumping over a fence, police said. Another person was injured by gunfire nearby at around the same time, police said.
An officer shot the suspect, a 20-year-old man, in the left shoulder, according to police. He was taken into custody and hospitalized in stable condition, the NYPD said.
