Off-Duty City Employee Arrested, Charged with Assault in Altercation with Bicyclist

An off-duty city employee was arrested Saturday morning in Brooklyn after he allegedly assaulted a bicyclist, police said.

Police say Edwin Perez, 26, was involved in a motor vehicle accident with the biker in Bed Stuy. The person on the bike, who has not been identified, had minor injuries.

After the initial accident, though, police say there was a dispute and the suspect assaulted the bicyclist.

Perez, who is employed by the Health and Hospitals Corporation, was charged with third-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident.
