An NYPD officer was injured Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn when he was struck by an all-terrain vehicle, whose driver then fled the scene.
According to police, the officer was struck by the ATV near Autumn and Pitkin avenues in Cypress Hills after he tried to stop the driver, who was weaving in and out of traffic recklessly.
The driver dragged the officer nearly 200 feet and ran over one of his legs before fleeing, police said.
The officer was taken to a local hospital and treated for a broken vertebrae, a broken nose and bruises on his face and left leg, police said.
A suspect was taken in for questioning but no charges have been filed.
