Cop Helps Revive Unconscious Man in Union Square: NYPD

A police officer helped revive a 59-year-old man who had passed out and turned blue in the face in Union Square Monday afternoon, according to the NYPD.

The officer, Michael Leone, was outside an NYPD depot in the Union Square subway station when a man came up and told him someone needed help in the park upstairs, police say.

Leone responded to the park and saw a large crowd gathered around the 59-year-old, who was lying on his back. He radioed to dispatchers about the man and said he was going to begin administering CPR.

Leone gave the man chest compressions until EMS crews arrived and resuscitated the man by shocking him three times with a defibrillator.

The man was then taken to Beth Israel Hospital, and is listed in stable condition. Later Monday, Leone took a photo with the man at the hospital.
