A 32-year-old man is in custody after barricading himself inside a Brooklyn building with his 1-month-old child, sources on the scene say.
According to police the call regarding the barricaded man and baby came in shortly before 11:30 a.m.
Sources on scene confirm to NBC 4 New York the baby appears to be okay.
Although there was an initial report the father was possibly armed with a knife, sources say authorities did not see a knife. However, at one point he was threatening to throw the baby out the window, which prompted authorities to set up an inflatable cushion at the base of the building.
Family and police talked him down, the sources say.
Police were searching for the missing 1-month-old since early Wednesday morning after the baby was taken by its father following a domestic incident in Queens.
The NYPD says it received a call around 6:33 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a "domestic incident" in the Jackson Heights section of Queens between a man and woman that had a child together.
The man allegedly assaulted the baby's 27-year-old mother, leaving her with bruising on the neck. She was subsequently taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Police initially described the baby's estranged father as being around 5 feet 7 inches tall, with short black hear and mustache who was last seen wearing all black.
Chopper 4 was over the scene at the Brooklyn building where police say the man was barricaded. Authorities were seen on the ground as well as on the roof of what appears to be an apartment building.
At one point authorities set up an inflatable designed to break falls at the bottom of the building. It was deflated minutes later.
