NYPD Helps Woman Who Went Into Labor in Chartered Fishing Boat: Sources

NYPD officers rushed a pregnant woman and her entire family to the hospital after her water broke while aboard a chartered fishing boat 2 miles offshore, police sources said.

The woman was in the vessel off the coast of Queens when she went into labor Wednesday afternoon, sources said. Police helicopters went out into the water and lowered an NYPD EMT into the boat so he could help until a harbor boat could reach the ship.

Once the NYPD boat made it to the ship, the woman and her family were loaded off of the fishing charter and rushed to an ambulance waiting ashore, the sources said.

Chopper 4 footage from the coast showed the woman being loaded into the ambulance. It’s not clear if the baby had been delivered as of 5 p.m.
