A stranger attacked the NYPD's chief chaplain as the 80-year-old man walked near Riverside Drive Sunday, authorities say.
Police say Rabbi Alvin Kass was walking by West 83rd Street around 7 a.m. when someone came up from behind and threw him to the ground.
Kass was taken to the hospital with a cut to his head. Authorities say he was not wearing anything that indicated he worked for the NYPD at the time of the attack.
No arrests have been made.
