Alleged Drunk Taxi Driver Hits NYPD Traffic Agent Patrol Car: Police

The 51-year-old agent was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with head injury and chest pains

A green taxi cab driver hit and injured an NYPD traffic agent in her patrol vehicle in Queens Monday, police say.

The traffic agent was driving east on 32nd Avenue in Jackson Heights when a man driving a green taxi from the opposite direction veered into her lane and hit her head-on, police said.

The 51-year-old agent was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with head injury and chest pains.

The 26-year-old driver of the cab, identified as Faruk Sha, recorded a .08 BAC on a breath exam and was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

It's not clear if Sha was on duty. There was no passenger in his car.

It's not clear if Sha had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
