Police Search for Man Stealing Phones on Subway

Police are looking for a 21-year-old man in connection with a string of subway robberies in Queens and Brooklyn.

Police say they believe Richard Brown is behind the robberies, which occurred between Aug. 15 and Dec. 12 on F, A and J trains in Forest Hills and Ozone Park in Queens, and in downtown Brooklyn and Williamsburg.

In all of the attacks the suspect said that he had a gun and demanded the victims’ phones. The robberies occured when the train was moving, not at the station.

Six phones, including four new iPhones and a Samsung Galaxy, were stolen from six victims in all. In a robbery on Sept. 20, the suspect also stole debit and credit cards from two men in their 20s.

There was a second suspect in at least three of the robberies, including the one in which the cards were stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
