Heat, Humidity Grip Weekend

Saturday will be mostly dry, but thunderstorms are expected for most of the are on Sunday

It'll be another hazy, hot and humid weekend, with temperatures near 90 and thunderstorms expected in parts of our city by Sunday.

Saturday will mostly be dry, but the high heat and humidity will feel oppressive.

An air quality alert has been issued for Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, Ulster and Dutchess counties as a result of the high heat and humidity.

For those headed to the beach, there's a moderate rip current risk Saturday -- so play it safe, and swim only on lifeguard-protected beaches.

Thunderstorms arrive by Sunday, will see thunderstorms throughout most of the tri-state as a cold front approaches.

There's a chance some of these storms will be severe, with high winds, flooding rains, lightning and some hail.

We'll see a relief from the heat and humidity Monday, with temperatures in the low 80s and much drier.
