Man's Cell Phone Stolen in Violent Subway Robbery: NYPD

A group of eight people robbed a man as he rode the D train in the Bronx, police say.

A 26-year-old man was riding the train just after 9 p.m. on Feb. 6 when an 18-year-old in the group snatched a cellphone from his hand and left the train with the others at 161st Street station in the Grand Concourse.

The victim followed the group into a subway station tunnel, where the individuals punched him in the face and attempted to remove his wallet, according to police.

The group then took off with the victim’s cell phone.
