NYC Fire Inspector Arrested on Bribery Charges

A New York City fire inspector has been arrested for trying to bribe a buildings inspector to ignore a work violation at his home.

The city's Department of Investigation says 47-year-old Angelo Young, a Fire Prevention Inspector with the FDNY, was arrested Monday on charges of bribery and obstructing government administration. Information on his lawyer wasn't immediately available.

Officials say Young had been slapped with a stop work order and violation notice for construction work at his Brooklyn home.

Officials say Young called an undercover investigator posing as a buildings inspector and offered $300 to squash the violation. He was arrested after he handed over the cash during a meeting with the investigator.
