Fire Scorches Supermarket in Queens; 1 Firefighter Injured: FDNY

A Queens supermarket burst into flames on Tuesday night, injuring one firefighter, the FDNY said.

The fire broke out at the Strawberry Farm Market in the Whitestone neighborhood around 9:30 p.m.

Firefighters doused the blaze but it was still not completely under control as of midnight. Smoke could be seen rising above 150th Street and Willets Point Boulevard as fire crews continued to fight the fire.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.

It wasn’t immediately known how the fire started.
