NYC Couple Charged With $750,000 Superstorm Sandy Fraud

A Staten Island couple is charged with stealing $750,000 from relief programs intended for residents displaced by Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

Acting U.S. Attorney Bridget M. Rohde and other federal officials say Nagwa Elsilimy and Ahmed Arafa face fraud charges.

Prosecutors say they made false statements to get aid - claiming a vacant home where they hadn't lived for at least seven months was their primary residence.

Their attorney did not immediately respond to a call for comment.
