Driver Charged With Drugged Driving in Crash That Killed Cyclist: NYPD

A 26-year-old driver has been accused of driving under the influence of drugs after a crash that killed a bicyclist Monday night in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs after the the crash at Avenue P and East 12th Street in Midwood. 

Authorities say that the driver blew through a red light on Avenue P and then crashed into a car at East 12th Street. The impact sent both vehicles barreling toward a man on his bike in the crosswalk. The cyclist was then pinned between two parked cars. 

The cyclist was taken to Lutheran Hospital, where he died. His identity hasn't been released. 

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, police say.
