Police Search for Multiple Drivers in Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash on Long Island

Police are looking for the drivers of two vehicles who fled the scene of a deadly hit-and-run crash on Long Island earlier this month.

Joseph Orlando, 64, was crossing Route 112 in Patchogue at 3 a.m. on Dec. 5 when he was hit by four vehicles. The drivers of two of the vehicles stayed at the scene, but the drivers of the two other vehicles took off, police said.

Orlando was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two cars that left the scene were a 2011 to 2015 dark-colored Hyundai Elantra and a 2000 to 2007 white Ford Taurus, detectives said. The vehicles may have lower front end and undercarriage damage.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
