‘Follow Me': Man in Car Tries to Lure Girls on Long Island, Police Say

A man drove up to two girls walking on a Long Island sidewalk and tried to get them to come with him, police said.

The 10-year-old girls were walking on Briard Street, just north of Stratford Road, in Wantagh, when the man pulled up alongside them in a black, four-door car with black rims and tinted windows.

“C’mon girls, follow me,” the man said, before continuing to Manchester Road and making a U-turn, police said.

The girls started running as the man drove back up to them and got out of his car.

“Why are you running from me? Come with me now,” he said, according to police.

The girls kept running until they made it to one of their homes and told a parent what had happened.

The girls were not injured.

The suspect is in his late twenties or early thirties.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
