Brooklyn Assemblyman Returns After Sexual Harassment Case

An influential state assemblyman from Brooklyn, who lost his committee chairmanship and seniority last year after an ethics committee found he violated the chamber's sexual harassment policy, says he's not leaving the Legislature, though he's not sure how long he's staying.

Assemblyman Vito Lopez says he's almost 72 and has health issues, but he doesn't want to walk away from the people he represents.

He says the harassment allegations are untrue. The Democrat was elected last fall with 90 percent of the vote.

The Assembly Committee on Ethics and Guidance found he created a hostile workplace, including verbal and physical sexual abuse of two ex-female staffers.
