The parish priest of Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in White plains stole more than 432 thousand dollars from various parish accounts, said Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore.

Patrick Dunne was arraigned Tuesday on one count of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree.

Father Dunne diverted monies that were donated by parishioners for several collection campaigns including: the church building fund, a collection for Hurricane Katrina victims, and the weekly offertory received by the church for general church operations; according to the complaint.

He is accused of using the money for his personal expenses.

Dunne wrote and endorsed checks to himself and to cash and deliberately concealed the accounting books, according to prosecutors.

Dunne was released.

His next court date will be on July 20.

He faces a maximum of five to 15 years in state prison if convicted.
