Part of NJ Transit Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Suspended

Part of NJ Transit Light Rail service on the Hudson-Bergen line is suspended until Tuesday morning after a dump truck hit some overhead wires, damaging them, officials say.

Rail officials say a dump truck struck the light rail's overhead wires on Marin Boulevard while the cargo bed got stuck in the up position.

Crews are attempting to repair the wires, and light rail service is suspended in both directions between Harsimus Cove and Liberty State Park until the morning.

NJ Transit buses will be cross-honoring light rail tickets and providing substitute bus service at the affected stations.

The truck driver was cited for careless driving and three commercial vehicle violations, NJ Transit said.
