NJ Transit Facing 90-Minute Delays At New York Penn Station Due to Amtrak Wire Problem

NJ Transit trains in and out of New York Penn Station are facing delays up to 90 minutes due to an Amtrak wire problem, the railroad said Tuesday.

NJT said it was single-tracking between NY Penn and Secaucus due to Amtrak overhead wire problems.

The problems were first reported just after 9 a.m., and the delays have mounted steadily over the course of the day, reaching an hour-and-a-half just before 1 p.m.

"We are working to have this resolved as soon as possible," Amtrak said in a tweet.

Outraged passengers took to social media to complain of trains that had not moved, in some cases for 30 minutes to an hour.

PATH is cross-honoring at Newark Penn and at 33rd Street in Manhattan.
