NJ Police Seek Public's Help to Locate Suspects in Jitney Bus Attack

Paterson police are asking for the public's help in identifying two men suspected of assaulting and robbing a jitney bus driver while he was driving along his route.

The suspects confronted the driver on Oct. 11 after he told them to stop their rowdy behavior, investigators said. They allegedly began the assault him while the bus was still in motion, although the driver managed to safely stop the vehicle.

During the assault, one suspect grabbed $300 that the driver held in his hand, police said.

The driver, whose identity was not released, sustained a bloody nose, black eye and cuts to the back of his head.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Broadway and Rosa Parks Boulevard. The suspects boarded the bus at the Bergen mall complex on Route 4 in Paramus.

Police said the suspects wore hooded sweatshirts and that one had a tattoo on his hand.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Paterson Police Criminal Investigations Division at 973-321-1120 or the tips line at 973-523-TIPS.
