Man Removed Pizza Sign From His Car, Tried to Enter NJ Home With Owner Inside: Police

A 19-year-old man is facing a number of charges after he tried to enter a New Jersey home in broad daylight, police say.

A resident of Matthew Avenue in South Brunswick called police around 12:45 p.m. Saturday to report the attempted burglary. She told police that she was in her living room when the man rang her doorbell and then tried to open a window in the back of her house.

When police arrived they found the man talking to the homeowner's husband, who had just arrived home from work.

Police say the suspect drove up to the cul-de-sac and removed a Papa John's sign from his Ford Taurus. He then allegedly went to the house, which was the only one without a car in the driveway, and tried to enter the kitchen and living room windows.

Police found drugs and another person's credit card in the man's vehicle. He was arrested on burglary and drug charges and taken to the Middlesex County Correction Center, where he is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
