Drunk NJ Mom Crashed Car With Son in Back Seat, Kicked Officer: Police

A 37-year-old New Jersey mother was arrested this week after police say she drove drunk with her young son in the car and got into an accident.

The crash happened at the intersection of Cedar Grove Road and Bay Avenue in Toms River when Jennifer Hyman smashed into a Toyota while making a right turn in her Jeep, police said.

When officers arrived they found Hyman's 6-year-old son in the back seat of her Jeep. They then tried to arrest Hyman on DWI charges, but she fought them off and kicked one of them, police said.

She was eventually taken into custody and faces several charges, including drunk driving, resisting arrest and child neglect. Her bail was set at $50,000.

The 28-year-old driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries and was taken to Community Medical Center for treatment.
