New Jersey Doctor Charged in Sexual Contact With 17-Year-Old Patient: Prosecutor

A New Jersey doctor has been charged on criminal sex conduct and child endangerment charges after he allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old patient, prosecutors say.

Dr. Saad Saad, a 72-year-old pediatric surgeon in Red Bank, was indicted Monday, Monmouth County prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said.

Saad was examining the girl during an office visit at Meridian Pediatric Surgical Associates in Eatontown Borough on May 1 when the alleged sexual contact happened, prosecutors said.

An attorney for the doctor says Saad is accused of inappropriately touching a fully clothed 17-year-old patient during an examination in which the girl's mother and a nurse were present.

"The accusation simply makes no sense," said Robert Honecker Jr. "Doctor Saad vehemently denies these charges and we will not rest until he is exonerated."

Saad, who's been a pediatric surgeon for 40 years, "saved countless children lives and has impeccable credentials," Honecker said.

Saad could face 18 months in prison on the top count if convicted.

Prosecutors are still investigating whether Saad is responsible for similar events in the past. They are asking people with information to contact them at 800-671-4400.
