Bus Hits, Kills Pedestrian in Queens: FDNY

A Nassau County Inter Express bus hit and killed a pedestrian in Queens Thursday night, authorities say.

The FDNY said it responded to the accident at Hillside Avenue and 165th Street in Jamaica at about 9 p.m.

Police said the bus was stopped at a red light on northbound 165th Street. When the light turned green, police said the 59-year-old bus driver turned right onto Hillside Avenue.

The pedestrian was crossing Hillside Avenue from south to north when she was struck by the right rear of the bus, police said. The 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The bus also hit a vehicle, causing damage to the car, the FDNY said.

None of the passengers on the bus was injured.

NICE buses run through some parts of Queens bordering Nassau.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
