NY Man Sues Doc, Saying His Appendix Was Left In

A New York investment banker had only one appendix. But he says two surgeons reported taking it out, in operations 14 months apart.

William McCormack is suing the first hospital, Lawrence Medical Center in Bronxville, and the surgeon, Dr. Michael Kerin.

Hospital records in the lawsuit indicate that McCormack's appendix was removed at Lawrence in January 2013.

But McCormack says that last month he went to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake with more abdominal pain. He says surgery revealed an enlarged appendix, which was taken out.

McCormack says Lawrence Hospital and Kerin should have known the first operation went wrong. He says the hospital's pathology report found "no evidence of appendix" in the mass removed from him.

Calls to the hospital and doctor on Thursday were not immediately returned.
