New Jersey Teen Shot in Face While Riding in Cab: Police

A 15-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to the face early Saturday while riding in a taxi with his older brother in New Jersey, police said.

The teenager, whose identity wasn't disclosed, was treated at the Jersey City Medical Center and expected to be released later in the day.

The youth, a Jersey City resident, told investigators that he and his brother were in a cab that was about to turn onto Van Cleef Street from Wegman Parkway when he noticed a group of people running in different directions just before he heard a loud gunshot. He said he then felt pain in his right cheek.

The cab driver, who drove the youth to the hospital, verified the story and officers saw shattered glass on the front passenger's seat and blood on the back seat. The shooting occurred just after midnight.

No arrest has been made.
