A state police trooper has pleaded guilty to a drunken driving charge stemming from an on-duty crash at a rest stop on the Garden State Parkway.
NJ.com reports Sgt. First Class Michael Roadside entered his plea Tuesday in Wall Municipal Court. The 51-year-old trooper had his license suspended for seven months but won't have to serve any jail time.
The 29-year veteran was usually assigned to a team of troopers in charge of security at the statehouse and other state buildings in Trenton. He was suspended without pay after his arrest.
The Oct. 26 accident occurred at the Monmouth rest area while Roadside was on a construction detail. No one was injured.
The driver of the other car claimed Roadside offered her $1,000 if she agreed not to report the incident.
