SUV Slams Into NJ Home While Woman in Her 90s Sits Inside

The vehicle slammed into the home after a bout of road rage turned into a chase between two cars, authorities said

An SUV slammed into an elderly woman’s New Jersey home after a bout of road rage between two drivers, according to authorities.

Police said the woman, in her 90s, was sitting inside her Ridgefield home when the vehicle came careening through the wall at about 6:30 p.m. and had minor leg injuries.

Authorities said the vehicle slammed into the home and burst into flames after its driver and another motorist got into an argument on state Route 46 nearby. That argument led to a chase through the town, and the SUV collided with another car on Brewster Avenue before hitting the house.

Zulma Silva, the woman's neighbor, said he and the driver of another truck involved in the crash ran in to help bring the woman to safety.

"She was in shock," Zulma said. "She was scared."

Authorities said the driver, a man, ran off afterward. Sources added that the vehicle he was driving appears to be stolen. He had not been arrested as of Wednesday night.

The driver of the other vehicle involved had minor injuries.
