Montclair High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning, according to the district superintendent.
In a message to families and staff, superintendent Nathan Parker said the high school was placed on lockdown due to an alleged report of a student with a weapon.
The Montclair Police Department was immediately notified and the staff and administration investigated the situation. Police determined that there was no credible threat, Parker said.
"The student was identified and apprehended with their belongings. The Montclair Police Department found that the student did not possess a weapon. This incident is still under investigation by the police," Parker said.
Chopper 4 was over the high school shortly after 12 p.m. where people, some who appeared to be students, were seen coming in and out of the building.
