New Jersey Man Accused of Strangling Child's Mother, Jumping Off Overpass During Chase: Authorities

Authorities expect to upgrade charges against a man who they believe strangled his child's mother after an earlier assault in Jersey City.

Police first sought 36-year-old Nathan Williams on Tuesday after 33-year-old Marilyn Albizu said he had assaulted her in their Old Bergen Road home. Authorities say Albizu refused medical attention and a restraining order.

Officers returned to the home later that night and found Albizu dead. An autopsy determined she had been strangled.

Police were looking for Williams when officers in Newark say he ran from his vehicle on Interstate 280 and jumped from a highway overpass, landing 30 to 40 feet below. Williams is hospitalized in critical condition.
