Murder Convict Pleads Guilty in Plot Against Prosecutor

A man who killed the fiance of a woman he was obsessed with has pleaded guilty to plotting to kidnap and torture the prosecutor who helped lock him away.

Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas says Chandran Nathan faces up to seven more years in prison for pleading guilty to criminal facilitation on Friday. He is already serving 37 1/2 years to life in prison for gunning down Shaleen Wadhwani in the doorway of his Long Island home in 1993.

Prosecutors said Nathan had been obsessed with Wadhwani's fiancee and was determined not to see her wed. Two days after Wadhwani was slain, she jumped to her death from her Queens apartment building.

Authorities say Nathan offered $10,000 to have someone abduct the assistant district attorney who prosecuted him.
