Multivehicle Garden State Parkway Crash Injures 5, Delays Travel

A multivehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway has left several people injured, including one who was flown to a hospital.

State police say the accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the northbound express lanes, just south of Exit 117 in Hazlet. The five-vehicle crash left at least one vehicle overturned and spread debris across the roadway.

The accident shut down all the northbound express lanes from Exit 114 in Middletown to Exit 117, and also slowed traffic in the local lanes in both directions for several miles. Many stuck drivers posted photos and videos of the wreckage on social media.

The names of the injured people and further details on their conditions were not immediately available.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
