Commuters on the Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road have long been waiting for a ticket-purchasing app and this week, select lines are finally getting it.
The MTA eTix app has debuted on the Metro-North Hudson line and the LIRR's Port Washington branch.
Instead of waiting in line to buy a paper ticket or using one of the kiosks, customers can use the app on their phones to buy and display their train tickets.
The app was scheduled to launch at the end of the year, but it's been pushed up to the end of the summer.
The rest of the LIRR lines and Metro-North lines can expect to see the app services available to them by the end of August.
