Gunman at Large After Long Island Expressway Road Rage Shooting: Police

A motorcyclist shot a man in a car three times while on the Long Island Expressway in what police are calling a case of road rage.

The 25-year-old man was travelling eastbound on the expressway when an unknown man on a motorcyclist pulled up next to the vehicle and opened fire around 11 p.m., police said.

The victim sustained three gunshot wounds to the arm, though he is expected to survive, according to police.

The gunman abandoned his motorcycle near exit 21 and fled the scene on foot, police said.

No one is in custody over the shooting. 

The roadway was shut down as police investigated.
