A motorcyclist is dead after colliding with the median on Manhattan's Henry Hudson Parkway, police said.
The 44-year-old motorcyclist was moving faster than the surrounding traffic and was followed closely by two cars on Saturday night when he entered the left lane and appeared to lose control, sending sparks flying into the air.
According to police, the motorcyclist was thrown across the median into oncoming traffic and was hit by a minivan shortly after 9 p.m. near West 72nd Street. The 26-year-old driver of the minivan stayed at the crash site, and first responders pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
There were no immediate arrests, and police are investigating.
