A Brooklyn mother was arrested and charged with attempted murder on Saturday after police say she threw her two young children out the second-floor window of an apartment building before jumping out after them.
Police rushed to the Brownsville building around 11:30 a.m. on Rockaway Parkway for reports of serious injuries.
Dejhanny Jarrell, 24, is said to have thrown her 1-month-old baby out of the window before sending her 2-year-old son out as well, police said. The infant was rushed to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition.
Police said the second child and the mother, who jumped out the window, were also taken to the hospital in Brooklyn. Their injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.

Carl Chin's apartment window faces the alley where the children were thrown.
"I was sitting in my bedroom and first I heard a baby crying and then we heard a loud thunk, like a body hit the ground," he said. They watched in horror as the little boy fell to the ground next and Chin realized it was no accident.
"After [the mom] landed and fell on the floor, she got up and picked the baby up by the leg and dropped her at least two times. So I jumped over the fence and basically wrestled with her to get the child," he said.
Attorney information for Jarrell was not immediately known. The police investigation is ongoing.
