Mother, 2 Kids Struck When Car Jumps Curb in Far Rockaway

Family is in critical condition

A car jumped a curb and ran over a mother and her two toddlers in Far Rockaway Wednesday afternoon.

Fire officials said the call came in just before 12:30 p.m. for pedestrians struck near Beach 32nd Street.

Video from the scene shows a crushed stroller and baby clothes near the gray Dodge car.

The 31-year-old mother and kids, ages 2 and 3, were taken to Northwell Health LIJ Medical Center.

The 2-year-old suffered a head wound and the 3-year-old had a hand injury. The mother had an injury to her leg, police say. They are all expected to recover.

The driver, Amjaz Saleh, of Fort Greene, stayed at the scene and was taken into custody, police said. He is accused of driving recklessly and without a license.

Tatiana Kuzmin said the driver looked like  on a phone before the accident.

The crash has people who live in the area rattled.

"I cross here too," Karen Sloan said. "Used to cross right here with my daughter. I'm gonna stop doing that."
