Mom Seeks Justice After Teen Son's Jail Death

Three corrections officers appear in court to face dozens of charges

A woman whose son was beaten to death in a New York jail got one step closer to justice.

Charnel Robinson was in a Bronx courtroom as three New York City Corrections Officers faced a 58-count indictment Thursday.

Her son, Christopher Robinson, was beaten to death at the jail on Rikers Island in October.

Michael McKie, Khalid Nelson and Denise Albright are accused of ordering the beating and turning their backs on it as it happened. Thirteen other inmates also were named in the indictment.

The three officers face manslaughter charges.

Charnel Robinson has filed a $20 million lawsuit against the city and the Department of Corrections.
