Mom Robs Long Island Bank, Flees Into Getaway Cab With 6-Year-Old Daughter: Police

A Long Island mom was arrested after police say she robbed a bank and then took off in a waiting taxi with her young daughter.

Diana Marini allegedly left her six-year-old daughter in a taxi on Saturday afternoon while she walked into the Chase Bank on Veterans Memorial Highway in Islandia and handed a note to a teller demanding cash, police said.

The teller gave her an unknown amount of money and she fled the bank into the cab, according to police. A Suffolk County police officer responding to the robbery found the cab a short time later and Marini was arrested.

The 28-year-old was charged with robbery and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said she’ll be held overnight ahead of her arraignment Sunday. It wasn’t immediately known if she had an attorney.

Police released the girl to family members and notified Child Protective Services.
