Missing Teen With Developmental Disabilities Found Safe

A 16-year-old girl with developmental disabilities who went missing in the Bronx earlier this week was found safe Thursday.

Karla Galarza returned to her foster home in Putnam County Thursday after a worker at a Bronx clothing store recognized her from news reports. The worker alerted the police, who came and picked her up.

Garlaza suffers from low cognitive function and bipolar disorder, as well as other psychological conditions, authorities said.

According to police, Galarza was in the Bronx with a caregiver for an appointment at a mental health clinic Tuesday when she broke free and ran away.
