The NYPD is looking for the pickpocket they say stole money out of a 19-year-old man's jacket who he then conned into buying him a pair of $150 sneakers.
Police say they got the call about the theft-turned-scam at the 34th Street-Herald Square subway station on March 7.
According to authorities, the thief approached the man and started talking to him. At some point, he managed to removed $75 in cash from the victim's coat pocket without him noticing.
The pickpocket then convinced the 19-year-old to buy him a pair of sneakers worth $150 from a store at the Manhattan Mall a few steps away, according to the police.
Afterward, he left.
