Police are looking for the driver who caused a crash that injured two pedestrians on Manhattan's West Side Saturday morning and then ran from the scene before officers arrived.
The driver was headed north on Tenth Avenue in a Dodge Durango between 33rd and 34th streets when he lost control, jumped a curb and hit a pole, police say.
A 44-year-old man and 40-year-old woman walking in the area were both hurt, but police say it's not clear if they were hit by the SUV or injured by the pole, which fell.
Police say that the driver, a man in his 30s, got out of the SUV and ran from the scene after the crash.
The victims were both taken to Bellevue Hospital, according to the FDNY. The woman is in serious condition, police say, and the man is in stable condition.
Tenzin Kunsang works at a deli near the crash site, and said she went outside after the crash and saw a gruesome scene.
"There were a lot of people out there, so I walked out," she said. "There was one lady, she was lying on the ground unconscious."
