Chiara and Dante de Blasio to Rule Mermaid Parade

Mayor Bill de Blasio's teenage children will lead the Mermaid Parade this year.

Dante and Chiara de Blasio will serve as King Neptune and Queen Mermaid at the wacky and wild pageant to be held on June 21 in Coney Island.

The teens will be wheeled in a 1923 wicker Boardwalk Rolling Chair along the route.

The event draws hundreds of thousands of revelers to the beach each year. A number of them wear revealing, mermaid-themed costumes.

Dante is a Brooklyn high school student and Chiara attends a California college.

Past royalty of the parades includes Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Moby, David Johansen, Harvey Keitel, Queen Latifah and David Byrne.
